Sources have disclosed that the deal to take the talented Crystal Palace playmaker across London is edging closer for a fee of around £55million plus add-ons – although the Eagles remain adamant they will not let the player go until they have a replacement lined up. Talks between the two clubs have taken place this week - and further discussions are planned - but there is now a hope that a breakthrough will happen before the weekend. Palace do not want to lose the England forward without being able to move to bring in a successor and are wary that time is limited given the window closes at the start of next month. Spurs have long been admirers of Eze and have stepped up their interest following the injury to James Maddison, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture. To add to the situation Dejan Kulusevski, another attacking midfielder, is out with a knee issue. Eze did have a £68m release clause in his contract, but it expired last Friday. Queen’s Park Rangers, his former club, are entitled to 15 per cent of any profit Palace make. The Eagles paid around £19m for Eze, a boyhood Arsenal fan, five years ago. Eberechi Eze's move to Tottenham is set to be agreed in the next 'two to three days'  The Crystal Palace playmaker is closing on a transfer worth £50million plus add-ons  Eze appeared emotional on Sunday as Palace took a 0-0 draw away from their trip to Chelsea. The winger was substituted off in the 84th minute and appeared to shed tears while sitting on the bench as he processed what could be his last Premier League game at the club. After full-time, he looked emotional as he lapped up the support from Palace's away fans.   He was denied a heroic exit as his rocket of a free-kick in the first half was ruled out by a VAR check, which deemed that Marc Guehi had come within one metre of Chelsea's wall by pushing Moises Caicedo before the set-piece was taken.   His performances also caught the attention of Tottenham's bitter rivals Arsenal and until recently it looked as if he could go either way. Eze's release clause of £68m only recently expired but Spurs have taken advantage of that to line up his services for less.   The Englishman's exit - if indeed it occurs - will hit Palace hard as they prepare for their-ever season in Europe by tackling the Europa Conference League.   Palace will welcome Fredrikstad of Norway on Thursday for the first leg of their play-off tie for the competition.    Eze is a major part of them being in the competition, having scored 14 goals and assisted 11 further last season, including the winning strike against Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
