The Portuguese head coach has overseen just three matches in charge of the Premier League side, after being recruited from Sporting Lisbon in the wake of Erik ten Hag's dismissal in early November. But Amorim already has eyes on a turn-around at Old Trafford, and a bid to rouse the club from its sluggish start to the season. Ahead of the January transfer window, the new manager has been tipped to pull off a number of transformative signings - including tempting Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres to Manchester. However, one star that Amorim is keen to work with for the first time is currently plying his trade in the Bundesliga. As per Sky Sports Germany, Amorim is reportedly set on trying to lure Konrad Laimer to join his Manchester United set-up. Ruben Amorim is believed to be putting together a transfer wishlist ahead of the January window Bayern Munich star Konrad Laimer has reportedly caught the Portuguese head coach's eye The 27-year-old has spent just a season-and-a-half in Bavaria after joining the club from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, but has quickly proved himself a reliable presence in midfield, notching up 59 appearances since joining the Bundesliga giants. United were thought to have previously expressed interest in the player ahead of his Munich move in 2022, with former manager Ralf Ragnick thought to be keen on bringing his compatriot into the set-up ahead of the 2022-23 season. But should Amorim have his heart set on drafting in Laimer to join his ranks, the 39-year-old may have his work cut out for him. As per BILD, Laimer is not thought to be currently considering a move away from the Allianz, where he is contracted for another three years. Bayern's 'Mr Reliable' is believed to be content with his standing in Vincent Kompany's squad, proving himself a regular starter under the former Burnley manager. Despite making an unbeaten start to life in Manchester, Amorim may likely look to finesse his squad during the January transfer window as he looks to help the club challenge at the top of the table once again. But ahead of revamping the struggling squad, Amorim will face a number of tough Premier League tests as the fixtures stack up during the festive period - starting with a visit to title-chasing Arsenal at the Emirates. Amorim is expected to make a play for his former Sporting Lisbon player Viktor Gyokeres Manchester United are unbeaten under their new manager but face the toughtest test vs Arsenal Ahead of the clash, Amorim was keen to make it clear to his players how tough a test the trip to north London would be after facing Ipswich and Everton, and Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League. 'I would like to say different things, but I have to say it again: the storm will come, ' Amorim warned on Tuesday. 'We are going to have difficult moments and we will be found out in some games. I know that because I know my players and I know football and I follow football. 'I know it's really hard to be a Manchester United coach and say these things. We want to win all the time, no matter what, but we know that we are in a different point if you compare to Arsenal.
