Manchester City star Sergio Aguero is set to take up a new sport which will see him compete alongside Brooklyn Beckham. Aguero, Man City's all-time top scorer, is making a surprising career pivot by swapping the pitch for the racetrack. And Beckham will go head-to-head with the 36-year-old as they are both gearing up to compete in Formula E's groundbreaking Evo Sessions. The unique motorsport event will see 11 high-profile figures from the worlds of sport, technology, and entertainment take the wheel of the GEN3 Evo — the world’s fastest electric race car. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 1. 82 seconds, it’s 30 per cent quicker off the mark than a Formula 1 car. Aguero, Beckham, and other competitors will undergo a rigorous six-week boot camp in preparation. And it will all culminate in a high-stakes track event at the Miami International Autodrome on March 5-6. Their training will include simulator sessions, physical conditioning, driver coaching, engineering briefings, and hardware customisation. It will give them a firsthand look at the demanding world of motorsport. The full journey will be captured in a feature-length documentary set to be released later this year. While only six participants have been announced so far, Formula E has hinted that five additional stars will be revealed soon. Combined, the current line-up boasts a social media following of over 300 million. Beckham shared his excitement about the experience, saying: "I’ve been lucky enough to get behind the wheel of a Formula E racing car, but this event will be truly eye-opening on what it takes to be an elite racing driver. "It will uncover the world-class ability of the drivers and teams alike and highlight the raw skill and ingenuity we have in the championship. ” Aguero isn’t new to the world of motorsport. He's previously attended Grand Prix races and even competed in virtual F1 events during the 2020 lockdown. Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds described the enthusiasm surrounding Evo Sessions: “The initial reaction when I presented the concept of ‘Evo Sessions’ to our teams and partners was, ‘this is wild! ’ — which is when I immediately knew we had to bring it to life. "We wanted to do something that has never been done before in motorsport; something that would give audiences and our fan base a unique perspective into the world of a Formula E driver through the eyes of some of their favourite online personalities. ” © 2025 talk SPORT Limited
