Thursday’s football this week sees the conclusion to the Europa League and Conference League play-offs, with the likes of Ajax, Fiorentina and Chelsea looking to seal their spots in the group stages. Our tips focus on Chelsea’s trip to Servette, Hearts’ second leg tie with Viktoria Plzen in Edinburgh and Latvian outfit RFS’s trip to Cyprus to take on APOEL. GET £30 IN FREE BETS WITH TALKSPORT BET Viktoria Plzen to beat Hearts @ 20/21 An own goal in the 96th minute from Daniel Oyegoke broke Scottish hearts as Hearts lost 1-0 to Viktoria Plzen in their first leg in Czechia and the Edinburgh side’s recent form could see them exit the competition with defeat. They are yet to win a competitive fixture this season, with four defeats from their five total matches in all competitions, and Yutaro Oda’s strike in their 3-1 defeat to Motherwell last time out was only the second time that they have scored this campaign. The visitors, meanwhile, have far more reason to be happy, with the Czech outfit winning seven of their eight matches across league and continental obligations, keeping six clean sheets during this run. This defensive strength combined with the hosts misfiring should make overturning the one goal deficit a tall order for Hearts. Plzen have netted 12 goals in five league matches this season and so they should have enough in attack to claim victory. Chelsea to win and over 2. 5 goals @ 49/40 Chelsea clicked into gear at the weekend as they ran riot at Wolves in a 6-2 victory and the Blues could find themselves on the scoresheet once again when they travel to Switzerland to face Servette. Enzo Maresca’s men hold a two-goal advantage in the second leg after goals from Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke secured a 2-0 first leg victory at Stamford Bridge, with the latter also grabbing a hat-trick at the weekend. Servette, meanwhile, have won just one of their last six matches in all competitions - losing four - and four of these have seen at least three goals scored, so Chelsea’s attacking talents could have a field day. RFS to beat APOEL @ 19/4 Latvian side RFS have never qualified for the Europa League group stages - their sole appearance in a UEFA competition came in the Conference League in 2022/23 - but they will hope that APOEL’s recent poor form could see them make history on Thursday night. RFS won the first leg 2-1 in Riga, thanks to goals from Cedric Kouadio and Janis Ikaunieks, and have won six of their last seven matches, as well as avoiding defeat in each of their last four on the road. APOEL famously reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League in 2012, but they look a shell of their former selves currently and have failed to win any of their last four matches - all of which being on the continental stage - and they could fail to overturn the first leg defeat.
