Tottenham Hotspur Micky van de Ven holds the crown when he clocked a rapid pace of 23. 06mph during his side's 3-0 victory over Manchester United last Sunday. The Dutch centre-back hit the afterburners during first-half stoppage time when he had to track back and make a tackle on Red Devils winger Alejandro Garnacho. For reference, the fastest speed ever recorded by a human was when Usain Bolt registered a speed of 27. 78mph in a 20 metre stretch during the 100m event at the 2009 World Championships. Van de Ven's league-leading speed is also quicker than Kylian Mbappe clocked at Euro 2024 as the French superstar hit 22. 68mph during the tournament. Van de Ven is also the only defender in the top 10 fastest players this season, with the other nine all forwards. Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga sits in second on the list having cracked 22. 30mph, while Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland rounds out the podium with a speed of 22. 21mph. Red Devils duo Garnacho and Marcus Rashford also make the cut with the sixth and the tenth-fastest speeds of 22. 04mph and 21. 97mph respectively. Timo Werner, Gabriel Martinelli, Cameron Archer, Pedro Neto and Yankuba Minteh round out the list. Perhaps Van de Ven's appearance at the top of the Premier League's fastest players list should not come as much of a surprise given he also dominates the all-time rankings for pace. Chiedozie Ogbene is fifth on the list when he hit a speed of 22. 95mph last season when he played for Luton Town but moved to Ipswich Town in the summer.
