Harry Kane made a match-winning contribution as Bayern Munich came from behind to beat Wolfsburg in their Bundesliga opener. Kane might not have scored, but he provided a brilliant assist for Serge Gnabry late on in the 3-2 victory. It was a first Bundesliga victory for Vincent Kompany since being hired as manager in the summer. Jamal Musiala got Bayern off to the perfect start with a goal in the 19th minute. However, Wolfsburg turned things around with Lovro Majer netting twice in the second half. Kane nearly got on the scoresheet with Jakub Kaminski deflecting his shot goalwards in the 62nd minute. He turned provider, though, eight minutes before the end as he played Gnabry through on goal. The ex-Arsenal man duly finished to make it 3-2 and win the game. It spared any blushes for Kompany in his Bundesliga opener, as they look to bounce back from finishing third last season. It was the first time in more than a decade that Bayern had failed to win the title. There was also a piece of history made for Thomas Muller after being introduced in the second half. It was his 709th appearance in all competitions for the club, tying Sepp Maier's record. It was also his 474th in the Bundesliga - a record for Bayern Munich. Muller was clearly in a jubilant mood after the game, as he appeared to jokingly copy Kane's celebration. Speaking about Muller after the game, Kane said: “Thomas is one of the best football brains in the whole world. He’s shown that throughout his whole career. “He really understands the position and where his game is and how he can affect it. “When he came on we scored straight away, I felt like he helped us control the game by making runs in behind and stretching them. “Thomas has had a great pre-season. " Bayern are next in action at home to Freiburg next Sunday. Have your say on all things talk SPORT by joining ‘The DUGOUT’ – our new listener panel.
