By RIATH AL-SAMARRAI, CHIEF SPORTS FEATURE WRITER and CHRIS WHEELER, NORTHERN SPORTS WRITER and NATHAN SALT - FOOTBALL REPORTER and LUKE POWER, SPORTS REPORTER Updated: 00: 01 AEDT, 9 November 2025 52 View comments Follow Daily Mail Sport's live blog for the latest score, team news and updates as Tottenham host Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Riath Al-Samarrai, Chris Wheeler and Nathan Salt reporting from the grounds. One issue for United so far is that Matheus Cunha hasn't touched the ball anywhere near enough. When he does United look infinitely more dangerous. It's a tough assignment playing as a lone striker in this system for Ruben Amorim but United have to be cuter in finding ways to get Cunha running with the ball. Brennan Johnson gets huge applause for tracking back and pullin goff a slide tackle on Amad, whose persistence wins a corner from United. The referee has to step in for a tussle between Johnson and De Ligt from the resulting corner and the Tottenham winger has gone in the book for his antics. Remember, he was sent off in the Champions League on Tuesday. By Luke Power Unlucky, Patrick Dorgu. He tries to jump on the long throw trend but fails miserably as it doesn't get past the first white shirt. 'I'm still trying to work out if that was a short long throw or a long short throw, ' jokes Ally Mc Coist, with a hint of sincerity. By Luke Power Matheus Cunha earns a corner after wriggling his way through a sea of white shirts and getting a shot off but it deflects out for a corner. There are appeals for a handball off Richarlison. The judgement is that he kicked the ball onto his own hand as he defended the corner. By Luke Power Roars around the stadium as Van de Ven breezed past Amad into the midfield. .. before playing a short pass. 'We all thought the same thing there, ' says TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher. Maybe Van de Ven had half a mind to run the length of the pitch and score again, too. But he reigned in that ambition. Spurs fans can dream. Huge cries and groans from the stands! It was a lovely cross from Brennan Johnson, practically perfect, and Richarlison just. .. missed the header completely. Didn't even connect and he wasn't under that much pressure. The flight of the ball had some bend on it but that was put on a silver plate for him and is a huge missed opportunity. A minute later, Sarr boots a half-volley into, what, row P? Q? R? That was wild. 'He's got no right to finish like that, ' quips Ally Mc Coist on TNT Sports. 'He got it all wrong. ' Another wayward long ball from Casemiro as he tries to pick out Bruno Fernandes who ran through from deep in midfield. It just feels like the Brazilian is trying to force things slightly at the moment and they aren't quite landing. Maybe Ruben Amorim feels going more direct is the best way through a robust midfield but if it goes wrong then Tottenham can counter quite easily, especially if Fernandes has made a marauding run without reward and left Casemiro exposed. Randal Kolo Muani has gone down holding his face after being blocked by Harry Maguire. Ah, he's back on his feet now and it looks like he'll be ok. Think that was an innocent collision as he wasn't really looking where he was running. The referee gives the ball back to Spurs. I actually think the decision to shift Bryan Mbeumo from his usual right attacking role to the left is very deliberate from Ruben Amorim and I think the reason is the inclusion of Patrick Dorgu. Mbeumo has the trust of his manager and already he's shown a lot of willingness to coach Dorgu on his positioning as they try to establish some chemistry on the fly. One to watch. Wasteful from United. Bruno Fernandes had brilliant vision to poke through a pass for Bryan Mbeumo, who looked to be just onside, but he squared the ball and nobody was in the six-yard area. Could've been an easy tap-in. Mutual debacles in the very first minute. Lammens allows a back-pass to roll beneath his boot for a corner and Porro balloons the delivery straight out for a goal kick. Glorious. Nathan Salt's forecast was right: Cunha is playing up front for United, with Mbeumo and Amad as the attacking midfielders. Man United have made a slow start but are did just enjoy a period of possession. But Dorgu struggled to control a loose long ball by Casemiro and Spurs step in to win it. Tottenham waste their corner kick as it's swung over the top of everybody and out of play for a goal kick. Tottenham have got us going and almost immediately fashion a chance, with Xavi Simons having a shot inside 20 seconds but seeing it blocked by the wall of red shirts. United also give away a very sloppy corner as Senne Lammens miscontrols a pass. Wreaths have been laid by military personnel, the fans have fallen silent, and players are gathered around the centre circle for the bugle ahead of Remembrance Sunday. I say this every week (I know). .. but this feels like a massive game for Manchester United going into the international break. Win and they go second. Lose and the noise will be very, very loud again. By Luke Power What is it with Spurs and their Star Wars music as the players walk out? Gets me every time. By Luke Power Not long until kick-off now and the warm-up is done by now, but here are the Spurs guys going through their paces before. By Luke Power Owen Hargreaves has given a glowing endorsement of Casemiro, who has taken chunks of criticism in recent seasons. I don't quite think he's hitting the heights of his first campaign in England but he has certainly stepped up his levels after a couple of mixed years. Hargreaves said on TNT Sports: 'You can't write off guys that have won what he won. He's a special player. Him and Bruno in that midfield too, with Cunha dropping in at times, their expeirence shows. 'He's seen as a disruptor but he's their second-highest scorer [with three goals. 'There's one game a week so he'll be well-rested. They need him at the base of the midfield. ' Do you agree? By Luke Power Thomas Frank explained to TNT Sports why he is starting Randal Kolo Muani and Richarlison together for the first time. 'Both of them looked good, especially Kolo is going from strength to strength. Richarlison has been looking sharp coming on and I like the dynamic of the two on the pitch together. 'Mo [Kudus] got the knock. I expect it to be a short one but it was too shrot a turnaround from the Chelsea game. I'm quite confident he'll be ready for the next game. 'No matter if we play away or home, we want to attack. Sometimes it's successful, sometimes stop-start. ' By Luke Power Just a moment ago I wrote that we'd expect Bryan Mbeumo to lead the line. But our reporter Nathan Salt has noticed something intriguing in the warm-up Matheus Cunha is actually practicing as the striker. By Luke Power One of the stories coming into today's game is that Benjamin Sesko has dropped to the bench. It looks like Bryan Mbeumo will lead the line in place of the SLovenian, who has only scored twice in 11 games since his £73. 7million summer move from RB Leipzig. Ruben Amorim recently admitted he is struggling with the level of scrutiny at Old Trafford ‘I’m relaxed. He’s not relaxed, ’ said Amorim. ‘I understand how things are in football and he's going to struggle – that is normal. ‘He has no experience here, and then the first impact when everyone says that you are so good, you are the next big thing – and you hear about that with Sesko – and then you come to one club that is the hardest club. ‘If you don't perform every week, you are going to hear a lot of things from club legends, from pundits, from the media, and sometimes they are right. ‘To have the ability to understand that is normal and still maintain your level of confidence is really hard for a young kid, especially for a young kid that is a control freak. ' By Luke Power One thing that will comfort Thomas Frank - and something which will have absolutely zero impact on today's game, but I'll write about it anyway - is Spurs' recent run against the visitors. They've won five of their last seven encounters with the northern powerhouses, drawing the other two. You have to go all the way back to October 2022 for the last time they lost to Man United, which was 2-0 at Old Trafford courtesy of Fred (now at Fenerbahce, where else? ) and Bruno Fernandes. By Luke Power Is it just me or does Man United in a lighter shade of blue just. .. not feel right? It's borderline, I think! It was this venue last season where Chido Obi was handed his Man United debut and while the prospect remains remote, I'm really hoping Jack Fletcher gets on today. I've watched Jack a lot in the academy and he's more than worthy of mixing with the first team here. He's brave on the ball, a hard worker out of possession and so level headed. He's best in one of the No 10 roles and while Mason Mount is also on the bench, here's hoping Fletcher gets his first team debut just like Chido did a season ago. .. By Luke Power On Thursday, I caught up with Dimitar Berbatov. He had a lot to say on Kobbie Mainoo, who is excluded from the squad today as he is apparently carrying a knock. No Premier League starts for him yet this season. Should he push for a loan again in January? By Luke Power Ruben Amorim has been speaking to TNT Sports: 'I tried to do something different. We had time to work during the week and we have to imagine what our set-up will do to the opponent. 'Having time to prepare for every game and control the injuries is crucial. The negative is that we have so many players who deserve more minutes (being out of Europe)! '[It's good] To see how the team is improving in the small details, the way against Nottingham we suffered two goals but managed to control the emotions, the way we defended at Anfield. ' By Luke Power By Luke Power Believe it or not, if either of these teams win, they'll jump up to second! Obviously they then have to watch the rest of the league play and will likely slip down again, but still, it sets the tone and brings a dose of positivity. By Luke Power Here they are, snapped by our very own Nathan Salt! Not sure the first two fellas in line will get a game. By Luke Power Christmas has apparently come early for this Manchester United fan. Is early November acceptable? As long as they're having a good time, I guess that's all that counts. By Luke Power Three changes from Thomas Frank from the 4-0 win over Copenhagen and Richarlison earns his first Premier League start since September. Spence, Palhinha, and Richarlison are in, while Udogie, Bentancur, and Odobert drop to the bench. By Luke Power Ruben Amorim makes three changes to the side that drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest and has reconfigured how his men line up slightly. Mazraoui, Maguire, and Dorgu come in while Yoro, Dalot, and Sesko drop out. By Luke Power Our friends at Squawka have put together a stat pack for today's game. What stands out to me there is how many more chances United are creating per game than their opponents today. They're making 11. 6 chances per game compared to Spurs' 7. 1, and their usual expected goals tally of 2. 15 is almost double Tottenham's 1. 24. Thomas Frank's men are ahead in the only metric that really counts, though: the league table. By Luke Power Tottenham triumphed 1-0 the last time they welcomed Manchester United to their home ground back in February. James Maddison bagged the only goal of the game, but they'll need to rely on somebody else today as he is of course out injured. By Luke Power It might not quite be the five wins on the trot that fuzzy-haired Frank Ilett wants, but Manchester United can reach an important milestone today. Avoid defeat and they'll have gone five games without a loss in the Premier League, certainly something which can lift the mood. Ruben Amorim was given Premier League manager of the month for October and his side are on a run of three wins and a draw coming into this one. By Luke Power Tottenham are hoping to arrest a huge slide at home today. It's well-publicised by now that their home Premier League form is woeful. Three wins in their last 19, to be exact. But after their 4-0 hammering of Copenhagen on Tuesday in the Champions League, they've actually won 18 of their last 22 home ties in Europe. They'll need to draw on that energy today. By Luke Power Hello and welcome to Daily Mail Sport's live blog of Tottenham's clash with Manchester United! We'll be here with you for all the build-up, action, and reaction, so don't go anywhere. The shear attack on sekso a 22 year old who is sti. ..
