By Luke Power Bold words from Marcus Rashford after joining Manchester United on loan. He does caveat it, of course, by saying: 'When I'm at my best. ' There are few managers in the industry more likely to get the best out of Rashford than Unai Emery. With Jhon Duran out the door, there should be chances. He just has to take them. By Kieran Gill Tottenham are currently out of the running for Axel Disasi despite previously agreeing a loan deal with Chelsea, sources have confirmed to Mail Sport. It is over to Aston Villa, therefore, who have been Disasi's preference. The issue is Chelsea see Villa as direct rivals for a Champions League place, so they would have preferred to do business with Tottenham. By Luke Power JACK GAUGHAN: So, are Manchester City going to respond to that shellacking at Arsenal yesterday by sanctioning a new midfielder today? Nico Gonzalez from Porto is the target and the move hinges on whether City can negotiate the Portuguese down from a £50million release clause or pay the money. The two clubs are talking this morning over a deal and Gonzalez - as it stands - is in the Porto squad for their game tonight. The word this morning is that Chelsea's initial approach for young midfielder Nico O'Reilly came earlier in the window and that was knocked back after they refused to agree on a buyback option being included. By Luke Power Marcus Edwards is set to join Burnley on loan for an initial £800, 000 fee with a £10m obligation to buy. He hasn't been in the reckoning as much at Sporting CP this season but the former Tottenham youth star is a title-winner there and you wonder if a Premier League club should have moved for him. Good deal and fee for Burnley if they can fully secure it. By Luke Power I'm really hoping for another classic moment today. I wonder what odds you could get on Bukayo Saka will turn up at Tottenham's training ground demanding an immediate transfer. .. Can't see that happening, but then again, we couldn't see these ones coming either! here are five of the craziest things to happen on transfer deadline days of yore. By Craig Hope A surprise link that we became aware of over the weekend – AS Roma have shown an interest in Southampton defender Jan Bednarek. As it stands, we’re told progress is unlikely, but Saints are aware of Roma’s interest in the Polish international and a fee of £8m was being mooted. By Craig Hope The message has been consistent from inside St James’ Park since December and it remains so today – do not expect incomings! Lloyd Kelly will join Juventus today in a £20m deal. That is an initial loan followed by an obligation to buy come the summer. And it is the summer to which Newcastle are looking. They believe the sales of Kelly and Miguel Almiron will leave them in a strong position from a PSR perspective heading into next season. So, while Eddie Howe’s squad is obviously light, he is very unlikely to get reinforcement before tonight’s deadline. Meanwhile, Galatasaray interest in Kieran Trippier will likely be rebuffed by the Magpies. By Luke Power Here's a name that is becoming familiar to Liverpool fans, but now he's set to scrap it out at the bottom end of the Championship: Kaide Gordon. The 20-year-old striker is set to join Portsmouth on loan after cutting short a temporary stint at Norwich. He still remains Liverpool's youngest-ever scorer in the FA Cup. By Luke Power Whatever happens in his life, Benicio Baker-Boaitey can hold on to one truth: he has a wonderfully alliterative name. Brighton have confirmed that the England U20s winger has joined Championship side Millwall on a permanent deal. Mail Sport's Simon Jones understands the deal is worth up to £1million. By Kieran Gill Ben Chilwell is heading on loan to Crystal Palace after they offered him a way out of his Chelsea exile towards the end of the January window. The 28-year-old England left back will undergo a medical on deadline day before the deal is finalised. It is not yet known what portion of Chilwell’s wages will be paid by his parent club as he heads to Selhurst Park until the end of the season. Palace had been left short in the defensive department after Chelsea recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his season-long loan, while Chadi Riad has also suffered a serious injury. Blues boss Enzo Maresca had been telling Chilwell since the summer that he needs to leave if he wants to play football this campaign. This season, he has been handed only 45 minutes, as a substitute in the Carabao Cup win over League Two Barrow in September. Chilwell joined Chelsea from Leicester in August 2020 for £50million and helped the club win the Champions League in 2021. He has been capped 21 times by the England national team, scoring once. By Tom Collomosse Kosta Nedeljkovic’s loan move to RB Leipzig starts a busy day for Aston Villa. After completing the loan deal for Marcus Rashford, Unai Emery hopes to add Marco Asensio – also on loan – from Paris Saint-Germain, as well as a centre-back. On Sunday, Chelsea were demanding a hefty loan fee for Axel Disasi, but the Frenchman wants to join Villa and that could focus minds in the final hours. By Luke Power It looks as if Chukwuemeka's flight to Dortmund has been pushed back to 9. 40am. Just enough time for him to browse the perfumes or overpriced jumbo Mars bars or whatever they sell in airports these days. By Luke Power What's with Premier League clubs trying to sign unproven teenage strikers today? ! A few of these teams need somebody for the here and now. West Ham tabled an offer of £500, 000 for Celtic's Daniel Cummings, 18, but the Scottish champions have snubbed that. He has, however, agreed a pre-contract deal with the Hammers. Cummings made his debut recently off the bench against Aston Villa in the Champions League. By Luke Power Chelsea have re-entered the race to sign Lorient striker Eli Junior Kroupi, 18. Bournemouth have held talks in recent days but an approach from West Ham has fallen apart. He's only 26 appearances into his career, so looks like one for the future. By Luke Power As of yet, that's a no, according to German football insider Florian Plettenberg. But this is transfer deadline day, of course! Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United have been conncected with him this window. By Luke Power Give it a year and they'll sell him for £80million. .. Brighton have agreed a deal to sign 19-year-old striker Stefanos Tzimas from Nurnberg in Germany's second tier. The fee, as we understand, is £22million. He has notched 10 goals in 17 games this season, but will he be able to make the step up? Well, maybe that doesn't matter for now, as he is slated to be loaned back immediately. By Luke Power I was glued to the entirety of this press conference last night. perhaps slightly sad, I know. But it is an enthralling watch, this back-and-forth between Jordan Henderson and the posse of Dutch scribes who he accuses of 99 per cent falsity. Reports have suggested that he was trying to engineer a move away from Ajax, refused to play, and had the captaincy stripped. He had a strong retort to all of those claims. .. By Luke Power James Ward-prowse is packing his bags and heading back to West Ham as Nottingham Forest have cancelled his loan. He looked a good addition over the summer but has been limited to a handful of appearances off the bench in recent months. It remains to be seen whether Graham Potter will have a use for him or if West Ham will try to find another move for him. By Luke Power KIERAN GILL: Chelsea-wise, we should see several outings on loan – Ben Chilwell to Crystal Palace, Carney Chukwuemeka to Borussia Dortmund, Aaron Anselmino to Marseille – while Axel Disasi and Joao Felix are ones to watch. But the fans want to see someone signed. I haven’t yet had word if Alejandro Garnacho is on or off the table, so I’ll put a check in on that now. Chelsea play tonight, of course, so that’s an added complication. By Luke Power Jorginho is close to sealing a move to Brazilian club Flamengo, according to Globo. Arsenal are said to have rejected the initial approach with a fee for their midfield star but Flamengo are not giving up. His contract is up at the end of the season, so the Gunners might not have much control over this one. .. By Luke Power Manchester United castaway Antony notched an assist just 15 minutes into his Real Betis debut yesterday in a 2-2 draw with Athletic Club. He was also, believe it or not, man of the match. 'United was the problem. They’re always the problem, ' says one fan on X. By Luke Power Opinions about Marcus Rashford are divided after his last couple of seasons, but his stats over the course of his time at Old Trafford tel us the sort of potential Unai Emery might be able to unlock at Aston Villa. By Simon Jones Chelsea's Carney Chukwuemeka is due to fly from Farnborough airport to Paderborn in Germany at 9. 30am ahead of his medical with Borussia Dortmund today. By Dan Davis Ruben Amorim says Manchester United are 'trying everything' to sign a striker - but will not repeat their past transfer market mistakes. Speaking yesterday, he told reporters: By Dan Davis SIMON JONES: Evan Ferguson has completed a medical ahead of moving on loan from Brighton to West Ham. The striker, who had offers from Chelsea and Everton, will sign until the end of the season for a fee plus performance-related bonuses. West Ham will cover his wages in full. The Hammers had been the favoured destination for the Republic of Ireland frontman despite late interest from Chelsea. By Dan Davis Good news for Crystal Palace. Ben Chilwell will have a deadline day medical once the details are ironed out over a six-month loan deal with Chelsea. Palace have been working hard to add a centre back or left-sided defender and Chilwell has been a target over the past week or so. His parent club would need to be prepared to pay a portion of his wages in order for him to make the switch to Selhurst Park, however. You can read more on this one below. By Dan Davis As we reported last night, Chelsea defender Axel Disasi is leaning toward joining Aston Villa on loan over Tottenham. He has struggled for appearances under Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge, playing just six Premier League games this season. As such, the Blues are open to loan offers and have agreed terms with both Villa and fierce rivals Spurs over a potential move. But we understand Disasi is more likely to head to the Midlands. For all the details, click the link below. By Dan Davis I think it's fair to say that yesterday did not go well for United. They lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford and were later dealt a transfer blow after their move for Mathys Tel hit the buffers. Discussions reached an impasse yesterday and a resolution is viewed as 'unlikely' despite Tel wanting to join the club from Bayern Munich. Arsenal have remained in the background. It will be worth keeping a close eye on this one today. By Dan Davis This was the big story from last night. Marcus Rashford has joined Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season, with an option to join permanently. That clause could be triggered for a fee of £40million, we understand. The move will see him play senior football for a different club for the very first time in his career after his falling out with Ruben Amorim. By Dan Davis Good morning, all! Welcome along to the chaos of transfer deadline day. We'll keep you across every deal, development and rumour right here before the window slams shut at 11pm GMT tonight. Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are all expected to be active and we may see some of those iconic deal sheets wheeled out later. For now, we'll kick off with the latest news before taking a look at what could play out later, including anything new on Mathys Tel. Let's get started, shall we? By Lewis Steele A quiet day is forecast at Liverpool with no incomings expected — which has been the feeling all month. A couple of outgoings will happen today, though, with young winger Kaide Gordon in talks to join Portsmouth on loan after he was recalled from a spell at Norwich earlier this month. Sunderland look to have beaten Blackburn and others to the loan signing of talented forward Jayden Danns. Liverpool wanted to keep him until Deadline Day due to Diogo Jota’s injury but the Portugal star is now fit again. A host of Championship clubs tried to sign midfielder James Mc Connell but he is now likely to stay put after boss Arne Slot was so impressed with him in the midweek loss to PSV Eindhoven.
