Bournemouth have signed striker Rayan from Vasco da Gama for an initial £24. 7m on a five-and-a-half year deal Click 'Get Involved' to have your say Written by Craig Nelson, Alastair Telfer & Tyrese King. Nick Mashiter BBC Sport football news reporter Aston Villa boss Unai Emery finally got his man after Tammy Abraham joined from Besiktas on Tuesday. The striker, returning to the club after his successful loan spell in 2018-19, moves for £18. 25m and will hopefully ease any additional pressure on Emery. He has appeared more frayed than usual recently, a flashpoint with Youri Tielemans at Fenerbahce last week followed his post-match interview following defeat by Everton. Then, he stayed silent when asked why he feels Villa are unable to compete with teams at the top of the Premier League. Villa are still third in the table and could end the Europa League league phase top if they beat Salzburg at Villa Park on Thursday and Lyon drop points at home to PAOK. So Emery should have fewer concerns but perhaps the pressures of the transfer window - including missing out on Conor Gallagher to Tottenham - have not helped. He faces the media from 13: 00 GMT today [Wednesday] and his mood will be interesting, especially with Villa closing in on Douglas Luiz. Craig Nelson BBC Sport reporter Funny you should say that Darren, but the rumours linking Cole Palmer with a move from Chelsea to Manchester United suggested it would be as a replacement for Bruno Fernandes. My question is, who would you rather have as your number 10? Thumbs up for Bruno Fernandes, thumbs down for Cole Palmer. Click 'Get Involved' to have your say Manchester United's best January signing - Bruno Fernandes. The numbers and stats speak for themselves. Worst Jan signing - Alexis Sanchez. Massively underachieved! Darren Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior was asked whether he felt Cole Palmer was "untouchable" in his pre-match news conference before tonight's Champions League match at Napoli. Rosenior confirmed Palmer, who missed Chelsea's last match, had travelled with the squad and reiterated the England forward's happiness at being at the club. "Yes [he's untouchable] and yes [he's happy], " said the Blues boss. "It's simple. Cole's an incredible player. I'm not surprised at the timing. A new manager comes in and all of a sudden there's people unsettled. It's not true. Cole's here, he's very happy and I can't wait to see him back on the pitch. " Asked whether there had been any reassurances from the board over Palmer's future, he responded: "There's no reason for assurance. It's so unrealistic. It's come from nowhere. There's nothing in it. There's no reason to have the conversation. That's where I'm at. "Cole is very happy, he loves being here and he wants to be a Chelsea player. You can't stop speculation, but some speculation is so far from the truth. " One huge transfer rumour that has been building over the last couple of days has been Manchester United's reported interest in Chelsea's England forward Cole Palmer. The Sun, external broke this bombshell on Tuesday, but, according to Sky Sports, , external Chelsea consider playmaker Palmer "untouchable". The 23-year-old, because of his quality and contract until 2033, will be valued at a sizable fee. Let's recap what you have missed this morning: Click 'Get Involved' at the top of this page to have your say One of my favourite things in football is seeing academy prospects establish themselves at the club that developed them. City's academy business is good but I wonder if it becomes such a conveyor belt after a while that it gets harder to feel invested in youth prospects as a fan. AJ Wolves are in talks to sign 25-year-old England midfielder Angel Gomes on loan from French club Marseille, according to Talksport. , external He earned his first four senior caps for England under interim manager Lee Carsley in 2024, but has yet to feature under current boss Thomas Tuchel. Gomes, who had a successful spell at Lyon after joining from Man United, only joined Marseille this season. He last started a league game under Roberto De Zerbi in November. Click 'Get Involved' at the top of this page to have your say Jorgen Strand Larsen is interesting. I understand Wolves wanting to get as much as they can, but unless they sell him this window, he'll surely leave next season for considerably less than the current offers. Sean Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa. Matz Sels and John Victor have shared goalkeeping duties at the City Ground this season but Forest are exploring a move for Sa, who has emerged as Wolves head coach Rob Edwards' first choice. The move follows news that Victor has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Whether Forest can successfully negotiate a deal for Sa, 33, is set to have an impact on the Portuguese's Wolves colleague Sam Johnstone, who has attracted loan interest from Tottenham Hotspur. Johnstone has made 12 Premier League starts for Wolves this season but has lost his place in goal to Sa. Any move for Johnstone before Monday's transfer deadline is likely to depend on whether Sa leaves for Forest. Sa has been at Wolves since joining them from Olympiacos in 2021. Tottenham's Antonin Kinsky is a target for West Ham this month, but the north London club are unlikely to let the 22-year-old Czech goalkeeper leave without a replacement. Click 'Get Involved' at the top of this page to have your say One of the best January signings has to be Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool. He's been rock solid for years, was close to winning a Ballon d'Or, has won loads of trophies, and is now obviously the captain. He has tailed off a bit, but he's still a great leader. Jack Nick Mashiter BBC Sport football news reporter Nottingham Forest goalkeeper John Victor has been ruled out for the rest of the season. The 29-year-old suffered a knee injury against Aston Villa earlier this month, and sources have told BBC Sport that he will not return this term. As a result, Forest have turned to Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa ahead of Monday's transfer deadline, with only Angus Gunn as backup to Matz Sels. They are in talks with Wolves, but any move would depend on the Molineux side, who are bottom of the Premier League, being able to find a replacement. Victor came off in the 3-1 defeat at Aston Villa on 3 January after injuring his knee while conceding Villa's third goal to John Mc Ginn. He left the pitch in tears and had some blood drained from his knee before undergoing a further scan. Boss Sean Dyche confirmed two weeks ago that Victor had a "minor" operation on his knee, but the Brazilian is now sidelined for months. Victor joined from Botafogo in the summer and has made nine appearances for Forest. Click 'Get Involved' at the top of this page to have your say Traore has always lacked end product. If he could finish and assist more frequently, he'd be a complete cheat code. He's ridiculously physical and faster than anyone, but sadly he's always fallen just a bit short. For West Ham, though, he's a necessity - they severely lack energy, and Adama has it in abundance. Harry Sami Mokbel BBC Sport Senior football correspondent This is another story that has been rumbling under, but should soon reach a conclusion. .. Flamengo are close to re-signing West Ham forward Lucas Paqueta for more than 41m euros (£35. 5m). The 28-year-old, who moved to West Ham from Lyon in 2022, wants to join Brazilian club Flamengo before the winter transfer deadline on 2 February. West Ham have been open to agreeing a deal for Paqueta on the basis the Brazil attacker would stay at London Stadium on loan for the rest of the season. The Hammers, who are 18th in the Premier League table, five points adrift of safety, have won three matches in succession for the first time since 2023 without Paqueta, who has been unavailable in recent weeks. Nizaar Kinsella BBC Sport reporter Adama Traore's final appearance for Fulham was in the 3-1 victory against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on 10 January. Having started his career at Barcelona, Traore had spells at Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Wolves before joining Fulham in 2023 on a free transfer. West Ham have been among the most active teams in the January transfer window, signing forwards Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente for £20m and Taty Castellanos from Lazio for £25. 2m. They are also in talks to sell midfielder Lucas Paqueta to Flamengo, having already sold Guido Rodriguez to Valencia and Luis Guilherme to Sporting, while German Niclas Fullkrug has joined AC Milan on loan. And midfielder James Ward-Prowse is expected to undergo a medical at Burnley as he closes in on a loan move to Turf Moor. The Hammers' busy winter window comes with the club still in the relegation zone on 20 points, five off safety despite winning their last two league matches, with 15 fixtures left to play. I think we all want footage of that race from 2015. Micah Richards Former Man City defender Honestly, Adama Traore beat me by about 20 yards [in a foot race at Aston Villa]. We were warming up before training and I was really warm so I thought 'yeah, I'm gonna see how quick this guy really is'. I always fancied myself to be fast. No-one I had faced had really out-paced me. The only people I had struggled with on a totally different level were Theo Walcott, Gabby Agbonlahor and Aaron Lennon. But Adama was way quicker than even them in their prime. I was just like 'wow'. My confidence was shot after that. I never wanted to race him again. Copyright © 2026 BBC.
