It's now just a matter of weeks until the transfer window reopens again, and Premier League sides are set to be busy once again as they bid to set up their squads for the 2025-26 season. For many sides, it remains unclear what competitions they will be playing in next season, and two sides who that is the case for are reported to be in for Maignan. The goalkeeper is Milan's first choice, but the Italian giants are struggling for form this season, currently sitting in ninth in Serie A and at serious risk of missing out on the Champions League. That could lead to some of the club's key players leaving, including the likes of Maignan, who is touted as one of the top goalkeepers in Europe. And, according to Teamtalk via Football Italia, he could well be on his way to the Premier League - with Chelsea and Aston Villa keen. Two Premier League sides are reportedly interested in signing Mike Maignan in the summer Maignan is AC Milan captain but wants to make sure he plays Champions League football Enzo Mareca's Chelsea and Unai Emery's Aston Villa are reported to be monitoring his situation Chelsea in particular have struggled for a settled goalkeeper this season, with both Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen enjoying time as No 1 but ensuring their own struggles at times. They may well go into the market in the summer for a new stopper, and Maignan would fit the bill - though his Milan contract still runs until 2026 and discussions are believed to have taken place over an extension. Maignan also captains the side, but is keen to remain in Europe's Premier competition next season. Milan reached the play-offs this season, but lost 2-1 on aggregate against Feyenoord. Neither Chelsea or Villa can guarantee that right now. With the Premier League securing an extra spot for next season's competition, they will need to finish in the top five of the table this season. Chelsea are currently fourth, while Villa are ninth. Alternatively, Villa would qualify by winning the Champions League, a competition they are currently in the quarter-finals of. The Villans would be the less likely of the two to sign Maignan, given Emiliano Martinez is currently their No 1 and has given them no reason to make a change. It is suggested the 29-year-old, who has played 41 times for Villa this season, could be available for around £33. 4million.
