Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Newcastle full-back Lewis Hall have been handed their first senior England call-ups. Interim manager Lee Carsley has named his final squad before Thomas Tuchel takes over on a permanent basis. Uncapped Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has also been selected for the upcoming Nations League matches. Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope has been dropped for Southampton's Aaron Ramsdale, while England regulars John Stones and Kobbie Mainoo miss out through injury. There is no debut call-up for Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, who has three goals and two assists in the Premier League this season. The Three Lions face Greece in Athens on November 14 before hosting the Republic of Ireland at Wembley Stadium three days later. It is understood incoming boss Tuchel had no influence on the squad selection for Carsley's last camp. Carsley has overseen three wins since replacing Gareth Southgate on a temporary basis, but suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Greece at Wembley during the most recent international break. The Greeks have won all four of their Nations League matches in Group B2, guaranteeing them promotion if they can avoid defeat against England. Carsley has made a number of bold selections during his brief reign, including a debut call-up for Lille's Angel Gomes in his first squad. While many expected ex-Chelsea left-back Hall to get the nod following an exceptional start to the season with the Magpies, the inclusion of Harwood-Bellis comes as a surprise. The former Manchester City centre-back has made 26 appearances for England's Under-21s, wearing the armband for Carsley's Young Lions on multiple occasions. I know them both really well. "Taylor is a player who really deserves it, he's a brilliant captain. "Lewis has taken his time to settle in but has shown he can be consistent. He's got a great left foot. It's a good challenge to see if he can maintain that squad. " Liverpool midfielder Jones has been called up to the senior England squad before - but he is yet to win his first cap. Carsley, who has worked with the 23-year-old at youth level, said: "Curtis is an all-round player, plays in various positions, " the interim England boss explained. "He is a player I highly rate, he's one of the best I've worked with in terms of ability. "He is showing consistency at a high level now. He can score goals, assist and is player we've had a lot of success with in the past. " This service is provided on talk SPORT Ltd's Terms of Use in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
