Kane headed in his 25th goal of the season in all competitions, a tally only matched by Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe. It was also the movement of the England captain at a Michael Olise free-kick that forced Leite to head past his own goalkeeper, but Kane gave the hosts a lifeline when he caught Leite with a raised arm. The chaotic nature of the game suited Union, who put Bayern under pressure by dominating the second balls, but missed a handful of decent chances to equalise. Luis Diaz thought he had put the game to bed with a clinical finish in the 75th minute, but mistimed his run and the offside flag went up. Bayern join 2023 winners Bayer Leverkusen and holders Vf B Stuttgart in the last eight, after they defeated Borussia Dortmund and Vf L Bochum respectively.
