Jude Bellingham had the last laugh after being taunted by Girona fans on Saturday. The Real Madrid midfielder was shown the middle finger by several supporters after being forced off at the Estadi Montilivi. Footage has now emerged of his response to the heckles of the home fans. Bellingham had earlier scored the visitors' opener before setting up Arda Guler to double their lead. However, he was forced off through injury in the 61st minute and replaced by Dani Ceballos. As Bellingham walked around the pitch with the Real physio, he was filmed from the crowds whilst being taunted by Girona fans. At the same time, though, Kylian Mbappe scored to extend his side's lead, giving Bellingham the chance to respond. The England star pointed to the pitch as he told the crowd to watch Mbappe's celebration at the opposite end. Fortunately, his injury was not serious either, with Carlo Ancelotti confirming it was only a knock and he will be available to face Atalanta on Tuesday. Bellingham's goal and assist extended his tally for the season to 11 goal contributions in 18 appearances across all competitions. He also debuted a new celebration after finding the net during the first half. The 21-year-old ran over to the corner flag before holding it with his left hand, bowing his head and holding up his right pinkie finger. Bellingham has since been nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year after the candidates were announced on Monday. He joins Olympic gold medallists Keely Hodgkinson and Alex Yee, Paralympian Sarah Storey, cricketer Joe Root and darts sensation Luke Littler in the running for the iconic award. As for Los Blancos, Ancelotti's side cut the gap to La Liga leaders Barcelona with their win. They now sit two points adrift after Barca were held to a draw by Real Betis at the weekend. © 2024 talk SPORT Limited
