The Sporting Lisbon striker has become one of Europe's most sought after stars following a superb return of 42 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions thus far. The Gunners are interested in signing an attacking option in summer while Ruben Amorim has reportedly keen on a reunion with his former striker at United. The two Premier League sides are considered the frontrunners in the race to sign Gyokeres - with a number of other club's in Europe also tracking Gyokeres. However, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola, the Sweden international favours a summer move to north London over any other option. The outlet claim that the Gunners are ahead in the race to sign Gyokeres, with Sporting willing to listen to the player's desires before sealing a deal. This is because the Swede is keen on joining a side playing in the Champions League - which United do not. The outlet suggest that, along with Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City are on the striker's shortlist - with Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and Bayern also in his mind. Gyokeres is currently contracted to the Portuguese giants until 2028, with his release clause set at £85million. It was recently reported that Arsenal have developed a strong interest in the Sporting Lisbon star following the arrival of Andrea Berta as sporting director. Arsenal's need for a striker has been all too apparent this season, especially following injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. When available Havertz often gave a good account of himself and contributed with 15 goals this season in all competitions. However, it is widely believed that Arsenal need an upgrade up front in order to help them to achieve success. Midfielder Mikel Merino has filled in as a striker during the club's injury crisis. He has scored a staggering 83 goals in 91 appearances for the club since joining from Coventry in a £20m move.
