Everyone knows how great the prospects are for young players here. I also know Pep Lijnders from Liverpool, of course, and the fact he is the coach here influenced my decision. ” Paul Ellis/AFP via Getty Images Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark has said his goodbye to the club ahead of his move to Red Bull Salzburg. The Athletic reported last week that the Austrian side had agreed a fee of £10million with Liverpool for the 19-year-old. Clark joined Liverpool from Newcastle's academy in 2021 and made 12 first-team appearances last season. "After an incredible 3 years at Liverpool FC, I’ve decided it’s time for a new challenge, " Clark said on social media. The deal is heading in the right direction and there is an expectation it will be concluded. The 20-year-old joined the south coast club from Boca Juniors in January and made seven appearances under Brighton’s former head coach Roberto De Zerbi last season. GO FURTHER Sevilla set to sign Brighton’s Valentin Barco on loan Advertisement Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Aston Villa defender Alex Moreno on a season-long loan. The Athletic previously reported Forest were considering a move to recruit Moreno on a temporary deal, with the 31-year-old high up on their list of left-back targets owing to his pedigree and availability. He has also attracted interest from Besiktas, Galatasaray, Nice, Real Betis and Villarreal. His Villa contract runs until 2026 Forest’s chief football officer Ross Wilson said: “Alex is a player we have had a long-standing interest in so we are naturally all very happy to see him arrive at Nottingham Forest. “He has amassed significant experience in La Liga and the Premier League, and he brings all of that quality and experience to our group. ” GO FURTHER Nottingham Forest sign Alex Moreno on loan from Aston Villa Barcelona have a recent history of missing out on Brazilian wonderkids. The list includes Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo and most recently Endrick. Roque’s signing was seen by some at Barca as a great chance to make amends. What happened on the pitch contrasted significantly with the image that had been sold to fans. Sources from the coaching staff admitted back then that the teenager was having a difficult time understanding the dynamics of Barca’s game. This view was shared by a broad range of dressing-room sources who had witnessed him in training. They said he struggled to keep up with the team’s rhythm and with the technical side especially, a crucial feature of Barcelona’s style. This, in part, was far from Roque’s fault. He had always been a physical player who managed to make his way to the top through resilience and goalscoring instinct. A forward who had his best moments in the opposition’s box, but one you would never highlight for his all-round game or combinations with team-mates. The reality is that, at a critical time for the club, Barcelona had invested over €30million on a player which some senior figures at the club clearly did not know enough about — and then agreed to advance his arrival in Barcelona with a level of expectations that the player clearly could not cope with. GO FURTHER Vitor Roque at Barcelona: What’s gone wrong with €30m striker they rushed to sign? Real Betis are in advanced talks with Barcelona over the loan signing of striker Vitor Roque. The two clubs are working on a one-year loan, which would include the option of a second year and an option to buy. Final details are in the process of being discussed, with the expectation to reach an agreement in the coming days. Roque is no longer training with Barcelona with an expectation that the deal will be finalised. Betis executives travelled to Barcelona this week to speak with Roque in person, and this played an important role in him trusting the Betis project and the role he can play at the club. The Athletic reported Barcelona were working on finding a new destination for Roque as he is not part of Hansi Flick's immediate plans. GO FURTHER Real Betis in advanced talks with Barcelona over Vitor Roque loan Getty Images Tottenham Hotspur striker Jude Soonsup-Bell is set to join Cordoba on a permanent deal. The former Chelsea youth team player will have a medical in Spain on Thursday before completing his move. The 20-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Spanish second tier outfit and will sign a two-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months. The prospect of playing first-team football at Cordoba was one of the main contributing factors in his decision to make the switch. The England Under-19 international joined Spurs from Chelsea in January last year but has not made a senior appearance for the north London club. Soonsup-Bell progressed through Chelsea's academy before making his first-team debut in a League Cup fixture against Brentford in December 2021. In November 2020, he became the first Chelsea player in 59 years to score four goals in an FA Youth Cup game. The Athletic reported on Monday that Forest had seen an opening bid worth £25million including add-ons rejected, having identified the England forward as their top target to bolster their attack. Arsenal are looking for a figure more in the region of £30-35million and negotiations continue as Forest push to bring Nketiah to the City Ground. Getty Images Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall says Chelsea's squad are not distracted by the persistent transfer speculation surrounding the club. Chelsea have come under scrutiny over the size of their squad, with a number of players — between 15 and 20 according to Enzo Maresca — including Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling requested to train away from the first team as the club seeks to move them on. "No, we're in a bubble with it, " Dewsbury-Hall said, who joined Chelsea from Leicester this summer. "You can't let that sort of thing affect you. The only thing we're doing is just going out every day and training as well as we can, getting ready for the matches. Everything that happens outside, it's not up to us. "Probably when the transfer window finishes, then it can just be pure focus on the season. Of course, when it's open, you get speculations. " Getty Images Raheem Sterling has expressed a preference to leave Chelsea on a permanent basis after it became clear that at present he is not part of the club’s plans going forward. The 29-year-old trained away from the club on Tuesday and Wednesday after being given a few days off while both parties consider options for a departure from Stamford Bridge. Talks are planned in the coming days, with Chelsea working with the winger to find a full-time solution, which he would currently prefer to a loan switch. Sterling was unhappy at being left out of Enzo Maresca’s matchday squad for Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Manchester City. A statement on behalf of the former City and Liverpool attacker released before kick-off at Stamford Bridge said he was seeking “clarity” over his future at the club.
