Wrexham are just one of six League One clubs set to be in action this weekend following a series of postponements. The September international break usually affords the two divisions below the Championship a larger share of the EFL spotlight. Leagues One and Two see higher attendances and increased revenues from TV coverage due to a lack of Premier League football. However, the third division has more interruptions than ever in what was previously a highlight weekend of their calendar. Wrexham's clash with Shrewsbury, Bristol Rovers' trip to Barnsley and Charlton against Rotherham are the only matches to go ahead. The increased quality of players in the third tier of the EFL pyramid has led to 10 fixtures being postponed for the international break. Clubs can call off a match if at least three players are called up to play for their national teams. The only other ruling is players have had to have started a first-team fixture this season to count towards a postponement. That always leads to a blank set of Premier League and Championship fixtures, with League One instead in a unique hybrid. International breaks later in the season always see a greater risk of League One and even League Two matches being postponed as players rack up minutes, but September is now causing unexpected breaks as well. Nine of the 19 scheduled League One games due to take place on Saturday, September 7 have now been postponed. Charlton even had the option to push that number into double figures after three of their players were called up by their countries.
