EPL Arsenal centre-back William Saliba has signed a new five-year contract with the club. The Athletic reported on September 25 that the France international had agreed a new deal until 2030. Arsenal had opened contract talks with Saliba in May, with his previous contract set to expire in 2027. “We’re so happy that William has committed his future to us to be part of what we’re building here, ” said Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta. “In the last three seasons, William has become an incredible defender whose composure, intelligence and physical presence make him one of the best in the world. I want to win big things with Arsenal, ” he said. “If you leave this club without winning anything the fans will forget about you. I want to win big things here. “I want to be one day the best defender in the world. I know I have to work a lot and to win trophies as well — but that’s my dream. ” Saliba signed for Arsenal in 2019 from Saint-Etienne, remaining with the French club on loan for the 2019-20 season. He had subsequent loan spells with Nice and Marseille before returning to Arsenal and eventually making his debut for the team in August 2022. He enjoyed a breakout 2022-23 campaign in north London, making 33 appearances in all competitions before a back injury ended his season in March 2o23. Saliba has been named in the PFA Team of the Year in each of the last three seasons, helping Arsenal achieve a second place finish in the league in three consecutive years.
